Spain Observed By Sportsbook Supporters Winning the World Cup

Spain came away with a 1-0 win as Andres Iniesta won a goal late in added time. They were the fave in free sportsbook betting against the netherlands in the World Cup final.

Since the game went beyond regulation time, for those that bet the game on the 3-way line at the online sports books it was the draw that was the winner.

Before the championship started, sports books odds for soccer betting showed Spain as the fave to win the World Cup, and although they won only 8 total goals in the championship, Spain won the World Cup for the first time in their history. It was a bitter defeat for the netherlands who ended second for the third time in their history. For the only goal of the game, Andres Iniesta won a goal late in extra time. After defender John Heitinga got a red card in the 19th minute of extra time the netherlands was playing with only ten men. Spain in fact put on the strain after the netherlands was shorthanded and Iniesta took a great pass from Cesc Fabregas and was able to get a prospect just past Holland goalkeeper Maarten Steklenburg.

A record number of yellow cards were handed out, so the game between the netherlands and Spain was pretty physical right from the start. Each team got four shots on goal but both goalkeepers made major saves, so neither team had a large number of chances. Spain’s Iker Casillas landed a fantastic kick save on Arjen Robben in the 62nd minute to maintain the competition scoreless. As well as a save on Sergio Ramos early in the game, Steklenburg also had his moments.

Holland made sure that Spain didn’t get through easily, though Spain had the better of the chances throughout the competition. It was 1 too many fouls that cost the netherlands in the long run. Heitinga yanked back Iniesta when he was looking to take a pass from Xavi that could have put him clear. It saved a clear scoring chance, so it was likely a quality foul. Spain didn’t convert the ensuing free kick but with the netherlands down to ten men, Spain ramped up the strain and Iniesta won a goal only minutes before the game would have progressed to a penalty shootout.

Since the draw was the champ on the 3-way line and the 1-0 final meant the match went under the total, the low scoring game and the added time win were good results for the online sports books.

Here’s the greatest part. The champ of the game was predicted by the now popular Paul, a Berlin octopus who has accurately selected the champions of several World Cup matches. Anyone following Paul faithfully in the World Cup wagering must have come away a bit richer.

A game to determine third place was held Saturday between Germany and Uruguay additionally to the final game on Sunday. Germany won the game in a 3-2 win. Uruguay were not expected to make it this far at all, so they should be proud of their accomplishments, nonetheless. And for the second time back to back, Germany has taken 3rd place.

World Cup Sports Books Odds on Saturday’s Third Place Competition

A sports event that neither squad wants to play happened on Saturday in South Africa with Germany liked in World Cup betting at the sports books over Uruguay.

soccer betting

Both squads were arriving from semifinal losses in the World Cup and neither squad had a shot at winning the World Cup any longer. Nevertheless, there was still an element of victory involved in this game since 3rd place is better than not placing in any way.

Sports Books online World Cup odds list Germany as greater than a 2-1 fave. Germany was a -240 fave on the money line to beat Uruguay. On the 3-way line, Germany was -140, Uruguay was +360 and the Draw was +260. The total on the game is 2.5 with the over at -140.

Germany took 3rd place at the World Cup for the second championship in a row Saturday with an interesting 3-2 win over Uruguay.

Germany was the more powerful of the 2 teams. It is little surprise that Uruguay lost because they were never expected to get this far in any case. Both squads got key participants back for this game. Uruguay got striker Luis Suarez back after he was suspended for the loss to Holland while Germany got Thomas Mueller back from suspension. And lucky for them that they did, because Mueller not only presented Germany their 1st goal in the game, he acquired his 5th World Cup goal along the way. This goal in turn resulted in Mueller winning both the sought after Golden Boot as well as the “Young Player of the World Cup” award.

Germany’s young squad was lacking five regulars through injury and illness, including striker Miroslav Klose, who was out with an aching back. Defender and captain Philipp Lahm and forward Lukas Podolski, who were out with the flu, were also lacking from the German squad. Uruguay’s Forlan has said that he has a thigh strain and that fatigue is influencing his performance, but he still managed to make a goal for his squad.

Normally in sporting tournaments when a squad loses in the playoffs, they’re out and do not play again. That is not the case in the World Cup. The World Cup should do the same as the NCAA, which got rid of the 3rd place competition long ago in the NCAA Tournament. Neither squad wants to be there so it’s challenging to handicap the game because it’s all a matter of motivation. Germany has more talent and they were liked, but that was never a guarantee of a victory on Saturday. It just didn’t take place, but Uruguay had hopes of beating Germany for the 1st time in 82 years. Alternatively, Germany finished in the leading 3 for the 11th time in World Cup history.

Uruguay’s Forlan stayed positive by proclaiming that Uruguay still surpassed anticipations. He brought up that it is impressive to be among the top 4, and had anybody asked them if they’d like that at the beginning of the World Cup, they would have. The squad performed above and beyond what was expected of them, and that’s something to be happy with.

Two European Teams Playing in Finals in World Cup Gambling

Spain has been named the latest World Cup champ in sports gambling following their game with the Netherlands on Sunday. In a 1-0 victory, Spain claimed their 1st ever World Cup championship and also became the 1st team in World Cup history to win the Cup after losing their 1st game.

soccer betting

There were lots of reasons for European soccer betting buffs to be worried in sportsbook wagering as the 2010 World Cup betting tournament approached. Primarily on the list of issues was the reality that never before in the 80 years of World Cup probabilities history had a European team won the World Cup gambling tournament when it was held off of European soil. The South American teams had dominated and won each World Cup probabilities tournament that had not been played on the favorable confines of the old continent.

And it looked as if that trend would continue when the Group Stage of the soccer betting got going. Spain, the European favorite to win the complete World Cup betting tournament, lost its 1st game to tiny Switzerland. But that was not all. The much praised English side barely qualified for the knockout stage of the World Cup probabilities tournament after they played to a draw with the mediocre US team. Worse still, defending World Cup gambling victor Italy never progressed out of the Group Stage and 1998 World Cup gambling victor France never even won even one point in the standings in its humiliating 3 game run in the 2010 World Cup probabilities tournament.

But luckily for European soccer betting buffs the curse is over and a continental team has won a World Cup betting title off of European soil for the 1st time. Spain and the Netherlands faced off in the finals on Sunday, guaranteeing that the victor would be a continental European country.

It was a classic soccer gambling matchup and a World Cup final to remember. The tournament’s greatest defense took on debatably the greatest offense in this year’s World Cup tournament.

And the old soccer betting adage that defense tops offense held true. Not only did Spain win the country’s 1st World Cup championship, but they hoisted the 1st World Cup betting championship won by a European side outside of Europe too. As it already notched the team’s 1st Euro Cup victory in 2008, this might make the team by far the greatest in Spanish history. In reality, it will be recalled as 1 of the best European teams in soccer gambling history.

However the contest for the Golden Boot has been perhaps the most intriguing betting story of the World Cup betting competition thus far. The Golden Boot is 1 of the most renowned awards in soccer gambling is awarded at every World Cup probabilities tournament to the person that scores the most goals.

Heading into the World Cup betting competition, most people thought that players such as the Argentine Lionel Messi, Britain’s Wayne Rooney and the Portuguese Christiano Ronaldo would be taking the award. Actually, between the 3 of them they landed only 1 goal. Germany’s Thomas Mueller took home the prize this year, too as the “Young Player of the World Cup” award.

It’s been a strange and intriguing World Cup for 2010.

Paul the Octopus Selected Spain in FIFA World Cup Wagering Probabilities

A 2-year-old octopus in Berlin has systematically chosen the winners of all 5 of Germany’s World Cup wins, as well as their 2 defeats in online game betting. And he selected Spain to win this year’s World Cup a number of days before the final.

He was right. Spain beat the Netherlands with a final score of 1-0.

Congrats to Netherlands on being the 1st team to proceed to the World Cup wagering final. The Dutch side has performed some marvelous soccer this year and has earned no less than a second-place finish in this year’s World Cup probabilities contest at the sportsbook. They won every game they had performed in, save this one – probably the most critical. The Netherlands had faced some tough squads and some tough defenses in the World Cup wagering battles, nonetheless they hadn’t seen anything like the Spanish defense in the World Cup probabilities contest.

There have been many ‘good’ defenses in this year’s World Cup wagering contest but except for Spain, they were all eliminated. That’s because Spain might just be the most balanced side in this year’s World Cup probabilities contest with its strong defense coupled with formidable offense.

Nonetheless, just as it is the Dutch’s offense that has brought it to this final game of the World Cup wagering, it is the defense that shines through. While Holland had an possibility (13/8) to win the World Cup wagering final, it would have needed to be at its very best and play practically perfect soccer if it wants to break the Spanish defense. And that, for a team who has never before won the World Cup, was of course probably asking a little bit too much.

Soccer wagering supporters in the know liked this team as a dark horse ever since it arrived in South Africa, but it started the 2010 World Cup probabilities as anything but a favorite in the soccer wagering probabilities contest. European squads like England and Spain and South American giants Brazil and Argentina were the favorites in the World Cup wagering, not the Dutch.

But each one of those squads, except for their World Cup finals challenger Spain, had been sent home. The Dutch continued to be ready to win the 1st World Cup wagering trophy in the nation’s history, or so they hoped. The team has qualified for the World Cup wagering Final two times before (’74, ’78) but both times it was knocked out by the host country in somewhat of unfortunate circumstances.

The Netherlands had a team gifted with some of the top forwards in the world. But Spain had a team with a pretty formidable offense as well as some of the top defense on earth. In the end, the Netherlands simply weren’t able to break their defense and score.

No team that lost their starting game has ever gone on to win the World Cup. Spain lost 1-0 to Switzerland in their starting game but had not lost since. So in addition to winning the 1st World Cup in their nation’s history, Spain has become the 1st nation to win the World Cup after losing their 1st game.

Spain vs Netherlands Betting Probabilities

It is an age old question in soccer betting and one that was solved, at least temporarily, in the course of Sunday’s World Cup betting final: does offense or defense make the difference in soccer? Even the least skilled teams in soccer betting can make a game of it vs the most skilled offensive sides by stacking 10 men in front of the box for 90 minutes and living and dying by the counterattack, so history in online betting would typically side with defense.

When Spain and the Netherlands faced off in the World Cup probabilities Final on Sunday it was a classic struggle of Spain’s much ballyhooed defense vs The Netherlands’ star-studded attack.

Butit would be dismissive of the squad’s all around talent, which has been apparent throughout this year’s World Cup betting competition, to label Spain as simply a defensive machine. The Spanish team comes as close to performing total football as any team in the World Cup probabilities competition. The team makes it seem simple to control a 50 yard pass without the ball rebounding off their foot or sending cross downfield that lands in perfect position due to the fact every competitor at every position is so talented.

Spain plays a reliable defense, but a lot of that is dependant on time of control and no team is better at owning this facet of the soccer betting than Spain due to the fact all of its players are so talented at handling the ball (both passing and dribbling) and apparently have eyes in the back of their heads that always permit them to find the open man.

Holland also performs a style of soccer that relies on them controlling the ball. But compared to Holland’s, Spain’s holding midfielders and backs of Spain are greater. While plenty of folks believed that the genuine final of the World Cup was the competition between Germany and Spain, the Netherlands was a pretty worthy contender.

However, they were not able to get past Spain’s much praised defense. Just like the 3 games for Spain before it, Spain won the competition in a final score of 1-0.

World Cup wagering probabilities listed the total on this competition at two. It was no surprise that this was a pretty low scoring game since Spain had allowed only two goals in the whole championship. In reality, Spain has won 1-0 in each of their last 3 games. The defensive edge surely went to Spain, however the offensive edge was with the Netherlands. Spain has just 7 goals, while the Netherlands have scored 12 goals in the championship. Tournament games have in times past been won with defense, however, and that’s where Spain had the edge. With Iker Casillas, they also have the edge in goal. He has demonstrated to be reliable while the Netherlands goaltender Maarten Stekelenburg has been unreliable sometimes.

Holland was playing in their first World Cup final since 1978 while this was the first-ever final for Spain. No matter what the outcome, history would have been made on Sunday since neither team has ever won the title.

World Cup Final Probabilities: Netherlands versus Spain Betting

2 teams which have never won a World Cup championship will encounter in the final on Sunday in World Cup betting as Holland plays Spain in a match that can be seen on ABC television. The Netherlands has been in the final 2 times in their history, losing in 1974 and in 1978 while this will be the first-ever appearance for Spain in the final. Spain is a -200 favorite at the offshore sportsbook with the total at 2.

Spain was able to get past Germany 1-0 in the semifinals to reach the final while Holland outscored Uruguay 3-2 in the other semifinal. Spain is headed by David Villa while Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder lead Holland. Sneijder and Villa are evened up for the World Cup goal scoring lead as each player has obtained 5 goals. The Netherlands have outscored their competitors 12-5, so they’re the higher scoring team in the World Cup wagering. Spain has played more of a defensive match as they’ve outscored competitors in the World Cup by a 7-2 margin.

Spain in fact lost their first match in this year’s World Cup 1-0 to Switzerland. Since that loss they’ve allowed only one goal. David Villa has obtained 5 of their seven goals and is evened up with Sneijder for the Golden Boot. Spain entirely dominated Germany in the semifinals. The team is packed with talent and it showed. The midfield of Spain is just outstanding with Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso. Goalkeeper Iker Casillas is one of the greatest goalkeepers on the planet, and the defense is extremely great. And when Spain needs a goal they have Villa upfront. There are not many weaknesses on this Spanish team and they’re a deserving favorite.

The Netherlands has been impressive in the World Cup probabilities and except in goals, they have the talent to compete with Spain. The Netherlands has Robben and Sneidjer plus they have a great duo in Nigel de Jong and Mark van Bommel in the middle. Not to be neglected are Dirk Kuyt and Robin van Persie. The problem for Holland is that goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is not in the class of Casillas. If the match comes down to which goalie makes a significant save, then Spain will probably have the advantage. On the flip side, Holland is the only team in this year’s World Cup not to lose a single match.

Neither of these nations has ever won the World Cup before, so this year will be a unique one. Either Holland or Spain will become the eighth country to join the quite brief list of nations that have won the World Cup. If Spain takes it, they will become the first team in history to claim the World Cup after losing their first match. If the Netherlands do, they would be the first team since Brazil in 1970 to win every match in the World Cup on the way to the championship. One way or another, the winner of this match will be making history for their country.

European Squads Flourish vs World Cup Sports Books Odds

Do you recall all that talk about South American squads dominating European squads in World Cup sportsbook odds?

Forget about it. 13 European squads joined the World Cup. 6 made it from the Group stage. And 3 of those squads have made it to the semifinals. When the finals are over, it is extremely likely that a European team will end up winning vs the World Cup online soccer betting odds.

Uruguay is the only South American team left, which is pretty shocking considering how many of the South American squads were deemed heavy favorites to win their matches. Five-time champ Brazil was removed pretty unceremoniously by the Netherlands. Reigning victors Italy were removed in the first round. The only ones that remain from the previous World Cup champs are Germany and Uruguay, in reality. And thinking about the extraordinary team the Netherlands appears to have this year, it does not seem likely that Uruguay is going to make it to the finals this year.

Needless to say, historically speaking, only European and South American squads have ever won the World Cup anyway. Squads from these 2 continents have taken nine championships each. So it is mildly astonishing that only 1 South American team is, but not astonishing that the other squads are European.

The game between Spain and Germany is a pick while sports books odds favor the Netherlands in their semifinal competition against Uruguay. There’s been at least 1 European team in the World Cup final in every year since 1934 and there will be at least 1 this year and possibly 2. If the Netherlands defeats Uruguay as supposed, the World Cup final will have 2 European squads.

Before the World Cup began, Spain and Brazil were the 2 favorites at the online sports books to win the title. Spain is still alive, however Brazil is out. The team that is now deemed on par with Spain is Germany. They routed Argentina 4-0 in the quarterfinals and a lot of individuals are now jumping on the Germany bandwagon. Although Germany has looked quite excellent, they now must get past Spain to achieve the final. Europe will now have a team in the tournament game no matter who wins.

European squads had trouble in the group stage but a few of the problems were not a major shock as Italy and France were both overhyped. It should be noted that Germany, the Netherlands and Spain all won their groups. Germany is in the semifinals for the 3rd straight World Cup. Germany may be an offensive juggernaut in the World Cup as they’ve got won four goals 3 times in their 5 games. In the entire competition, there were several squads that didn’t score four goals. Miroslav Klose, who has 14 career World Cup goals, is leading the German team. Klose is not the leading scorer in the competition though as Spain’s David Villa has 5 for top honors. The Netherlands, who’s the only outstanding unbeaten team in the World Cup, is not to be forgotten on the list of European squads. They are now unbeaten overall in their last 24 matches plus they are favored on Tuesday to beat Uruguay and make the final.

Uruguay vs Netherlands in World Cup Betting Semifinals

On Tuesday as Holland take on Uruguay in the semifinals, they will be liked by World Cup wagering probabilities in sports betting.

After almost 3 weeks of World Cup wagering action in sportsbook betting the lineup is starting to get pared down and the only the best of the very best remain. The World Cup wagering lineup has been narrowed down to only a few teams, all vying for the largest prize in sports wagering, after dozens of matches, a number of rotten calls by referees and non-stop symphony of vuvuzela blowing.

The final eight was stuffed with predictable soccer gambling juggernauts, as it usually is, but there have been also a number of unpredicted teams that are still around and still have a shot at bringing home a World Cup gambling championship. It’s actually fairly shocking how many of the less-favored teams got through to the semifinals, a few for the first time in history, or at least in many years.

The Netherlands removed liked Brazil in the quarterfinals while Uruguay got past Ghana. The Netherlands is a -160 fave in World Cup probabilities to win Tuesday’s competition versus Uruguay that can be watched on ESPN.

World Cup gambling probabilities list Holland at -160, Uruguay at +490 and the Draw at +255. The total on the competition is 2 with the over at -130. Since Uruguay will be lacking striker Luis Suarez, who was suspended for this competition because of his handball versus Ghana, they will be shorthanded on Tuesday. Top defender Jorge Fucile, who is also suspended for this competition, also won’t be playing for Uruguay.

Without Suarez’s handball the squad would have lost to Ghana, so he truly was the hero for Uruguay. The teams were tied 1-1 after regulation time, so they went into extra time. In the last minute, Suarez kept a shot from the Uruguay goal using his hands and then Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan struck the crossbar with his penalty shot. Uruguay proceeded to win the competition 4-2 on penalty kicks.

The largest problem for Holland could be a disappointment. They are arriving from a very emotional win over Brazil and now they’ve got to avoid looking over a Uruguay squad lacking 2 of their greatest competitors. Uruguay still has Diego Forlan who is a very dangerous striker and they will be motivated to make the final. The Netherlands won every one of their eight qualifying matches and now they have won all 5 of their World Cup matches. They’re likely to win this competition versus Uruguay and make the final if they can avoid a disappointment.

Recent World Cup probabilities history has seen only 5 teams involved in the final. Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany and Italy are the only 5 teams to have competed for the World Cup championship since 1982. There will be at least one new squad this year since the champion of this competition between Uruguay and Holland will be in the final. If Spain beats Germany on Wednesday in the other semifinal, there could be another newcomer. If the Netherlands and Spain both win their semifinals matches then there will be a new World Cup champion this year.

World Cup Semi Finals Wagering: Uruguay against Netherlands Probabilities

Uruguay and the Netherlands will meet on Tuesday in the World Cup betting on the semifinals with the Netherlands liked to advance to the final. The Netherlands must now avoid overconfidence as they face Uruguay on Tuesday after they upset Brazil in the quarterfinals. Head coach Bert van Marwijk is warning his team not to neglect Uruguay, despite the fact that the Netherlands has yet to lose a game in the World Cup online betting. The biggest problem for the Netherlands may be a letdown. They are arriving off a quite emotional win over Brazil and now they have to avoid overlooking a Uruguay team lacking two of their greatest players.

World Cup wagering odds list the Netherlands at -160, Uruguay at +490 and the Draw at +255. The total on the game is two with the over at -130.

Van Marwijk is reminding his team of what happened two years ago when the Netherlands was liked to become European winners and then lost in the quarterfinals. He does not want his team overlooking Uruguay. On paper, it seems like the Netherlands should win this game without an excessive amount of difficulty. The Netherlands won all 8 of their qualifying matches and now they have won all five of their World Cup wagering matches.

Uruguay was quite fortunate to get past Ghana in the quarterfinals as they made it on a missed penalty kick after Luis Suarez was red-carded for a handball. The handball was important however as Ghana missed their penalty kick at the conclusion of overtime sending the competition to penalty kicks where Uruguay won 4-2. Uruguay will be lacking Suarez in this semifinal game versus the Netherlands as he was suspended. Uruguay will also be lacking defender Jorge Ciro Fucile who’s suspended and they might be lacking wounded captain Diego Lugano and midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro. The Netherlands will be lacking defender Gregory van der Wiel and midfielder Nigel de Jong who are suspended.

Lacking Suarez’s handball, the team would have lost to Ghana, so Suarez was actually the hero for Uruguay. The teams went to extra time since they were evened up 1-1 after regulation time. In the final moment, Suarez kept a shot from the Uruguay goal using his hands and then Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan struck the crossbar with his penalty shot. Uruguay went on to win the game 4-2 on penalty kicks.

Uruguay is going to need Diego Forlan to score in order for them to win this game. He is the 1 true scoring risk with Suarez from the lineup. The Netherlands has far more scoring depth directed by Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder.

Only five teams have been involved in the last seven World Cup finals odds, but that will change this year with the winner of this game between Uruguay and the Netherlands in the final. Argentina, Brazil, Germany, France and Italy are the only five teams since 1982 to have played in the World Cup finals. If the Netherlands wins this semifinal versus Uruguay and Spain beats Germany on Wednesday, there will be a first-time World Cup winner. The Netherlands competed in the 1974 and 1978 finals but lost each time. Uruguay has picked up the World Cup 2 times.

Wagering Odds Lines Spain versus Paraguay

In Saturday’s quarterfinals game in sports gambling wagers, Paraguay was overcome 1-0 by Spain. Spain will now be proceeding to the semifinals where it will be confronting Germany, who defeated the liked Argentina squad 4-0. It is the 1st time that Spain has ever before been to the World Cup semifinals. Spain may ultimately have a chance at shaking its image as a never ending World Cup bust in sports wagers.

This looks it might ultimately be the year Spain gets it 1st World Cup betting title, and it has been a quite long time in the making. This year the much beleaguered Spanish side could just shed its title of ‘underachiever’ after years of failing to live up to huge anticipations in the World Cup probabilities tournament, if it can just win 2 more soccer betting fights in South Africa.

There’ve been lots of fantastic opportunities before for Spain to win a World Cup wagering title and it has surely had the talent. But bad luck and bad play on the pitch have worked together to saddle this squad with the infamy of being the greatest squad in soccer wagering to have never won a World Cup wagering title.

It looks as if the soccer gods could ultimately be smiling on Espana, and there’s reason to be hopeful this year. In years past the Spanish teams appeared to crumble under the slightest bit of strain. But it’s different this side. This is the same group of players that grabbed the Euro Cup and won Spain its 1st ever worldwide soccer betting title just 2 years ago.

And it has already proved that it can handle the World Cup betting strain also to World Cup betting buffs around the planet. After dropping its 1st game in the World Cup probabilities tournament it had to win out in the Group Stage of the soccer betting which it did with relative ease.

This squad has been as impressive as any since its 1st and only loss in this competition and is probably the most skilled team from front to back in this World Cup wagering competition. Villa actually leads the competition with 4 goals in 4 matches and up front the likes of Fernando Torres and David Villa have been torching opposing defenses. In the midfield this squad is stout with Xabi Alonso, and defenders like Carlos Puyols and Co. keep competitors away from the goal on defense. But captain and goalie Iker Casillas, probably the greatest goalie on earth, is maybe the biggest competitor on this side.

But talent aside, the Spanish side had a positive draw in the quarterfinals versus Paraguay and that may just have been the tiny bit of luck this squad required to get through.

It was a challenging game, full of bitter moments and debate, but Spain came out on top. Simply put, the teams were fairly evenly matched, but Spain just had a better evening than Paraguay.

When they face the much more challenging German squad, it is still to be viewed if Spain’s luck continues.
